Event Description

A two-hour walk through Dufftown, woven with tales of fate and folklore

Dufftown is not just a village. It is a place of stories.

This small-group guided walk explores the people, events, and beliefs that shaped the town, and the stories that still linger here today. From witches and outlaws to resurrectionists and echoes of the Picts, you’ll uncover a side of Dufftown most visitors never see.

We begin in the heart of the village and follow a gentle two-hour route through the town and its surroundings, stopping at places where history and folklore meet.

Some of the stories are rooted in Dufftown itself. Others belong to the wider Highland landscape, but are carried through it. Together, they reveal how people once understood this place through belief, experience, and the stories they passed on.

You won’t need any prior knowledge. Just a bit of curiosity.

This is not a rushed tour, nor a list of dates and facts. It is a slower, story-led experience, designed to give you a deeper sense of the place, its people, and what still lingers beneath the surface.

If you are drawn to folklore, human stories, and experiencing a place beyond what is immediately visible, you are warmly invited to step into the story.
